  • Member of the Family Law Bar Association. I am an active member of the Western Circuit and have been an advocacy teacher (Grade A) for many years and regularly teach all aspects of advocacy. I also regularly conduct seminars on all my specialist areas of law and practice
  • I have been involved in family law all my career but for many years now have concentrated my practice exclusively in this area
  • Areas of practice
    • Ancillary relief. I deal with cases at all levels, many of which have been the longer and more complex “big money” ones.
    • Public Law, Adoption and Wardship. I am instructed by local authorities, guardians, parents and wider family members. Many of my cases have been long and complex involving serious injury and death to a child. Because of my experience, I have also acted as a leading junior Counsel in several cases where the issues have been exceptionally complex.
    • Private law. I am instructed in all matters connected with divorce and children, including finding of fact hearings, residence, contact, parental responsibility, injunctions, child abduction and other private law applications and remedies. Many of my cases have involved serious allegations of sexual, physical and/or emotional abuse against one of the parents. I have also been instructed regularly by guardians in such cases.
    • International and jurisdiction cases. I have conducted many Hague Convention and other cases with an international dimension.
    • Human rights associated with family law cases.
    • Cohabitation and TOLATA cases. With the increasing tendency for people to live together and with the advent of civil partnerships this is an important area of the law.
  • Recently reported cases, have included R v R (Financial Relief: Company Valuation) [2005] 2 FLR 365 and Re B (Children) [2006] EWCA Civ 1186 (dealing with the standard of proof and shaking injuries in care cases).
  • Guides to the legal profession. I am listed in chambers & Partners Guide to the Legal Profession as a Leader at the Bar and Notable Practitioner and have had the following comments made: “Well prepared, experienced and grasps matters very quickly” and “Viewed as a tough opponent especially in complex financial issues”
